How to build a UX content team from scratch.

In June of 2016, I started a job in a Fortune 100 company in an in-house UX team. I thought I knew what I was doing. I’d worked in UX at a handful of digital agencies. I’d written for websites, social media and apps. I’d written plenty of product copy, microcopy, metadata. I’d done the content audits, designed content strategies, and all that jazz. I’d even taught other people how to do it. But it wasn’t until I found myself surrounded by 37+ product design teams, a couple of large-scale, high-priority corporate design initiatives, and a steady stream of fast turnaround digital campaigns that I realized I had a ton to learn — including how to quickly hire and scale a team of writers to work on it all.

Earlier this year I was slated to speak at a conference on this topic. Unfortunately, the gods of technology were not on my side that day and I wasn’t able to give the presentation. So here it is, complete with color commentary.

I’d planned for this slide to be a little you know, humorous. Maybe an example of my laugh (insert laugh) or a guffaw or two. Something that didn’t fit into this list is my love of cute baby animals photos and bad clip art.
